Ruby red/rednesday/theme song: Gong

A Thai Gong at a Thai festival. Reminds of the the Gong Show I watch when I was in Canada.

Lenape High School Spring Concert - Concert Choir
Feng Yang Hua Gu - Chinese Traditional

The choir was very good singing this Chinese song.

By the late Teresa Teng, one of the most famous Chinese singers.

This was actually old Chinese song but made popular as an American song when Nancy Kwan sang in the movie she played. When I was in Singapore, I taught the children to learn left and right. My friends from China didn't know this song. It was quite funny singing this part.
Drrr-lang-dang piao-yi-piao
Drrr-lang-dang piao-yi-piao
Drrr-piao, drrr-piao yu drrr-piao-piao-yi-piao

old Chinese folk song

Shuo Fengyang, dao Fengyang
Fengyang benshi hao difang.
Zicong chuliao Zhu huangdi
Shi nian dao you jiu nian huang.
Dahu renjia gai hangye
Xiaohu renjia mai erlang
Nujia meiyou erlang mai
Shen beizhe huagu zou taxiang
Say Fengyang, sing Fengyang
Fengyang once was a wealthy town
But since the reign of Emperor Zhu
Famine came in nine years out of ten.
Rich men took to lowly trade,
Poor men had to sell their sons
I myself had no sons to sell
So carrying my flower drum I left town.

This is a humorous variation:
(Sung by man and woman together)

(
Left hand a gong, right hand a drum
With gong and drum we sing a song.
No other song do we know how to sing,
We only know the Fengyang song
Fengyang, Fengyang flower drum
Ai-ya-ai-hu-ya!

Drrr-lang-dang piao-yi-piao
Drrr-lang-dang piao-yi-piao
Drrr-piao, drrr-piao yu drrr-piao-piao-yi-piao

(the woman)
Sad is my fate, oh how sad,
I spend my life with a good-for-nothing man.
Other women's husbands have power and wealth,
My husband only knows how to beat the flower drum
All day long he beats that flower drum
Ai-ya-ai-hu-ya!

Drrr-lang-dang piao-yi-piao
Drrr-lang-dang piao-yi-piao
Drrr-piao, drrr-piao yu drrr-piao-piao-yi-piao

(the man)
Sad is my fate, oh how sad
I spend my life with such an ugly mate
Other men's wives can embroider and sew,
But all my wife can do is show her great big feet
Measuring more than one foot long
Ai-ya-ai-hu-ya!
