a different kind of oppression

Can't believe this kind of oppression. A 10-year-old girl was sent home from her primary school because it did not have a sanitary disposal unit for her to use, a public health sociologist says.

Also, amazed at the principal's suggestion:

"And the other suggestion from the school principal was that she be put on the contraceptive pill..."

To stop her period, I am assuming. It's probably not healthy that adults use it (but, as a doctor told me, decide if you want 20 children or side effects from the pill) but for a child...unbelievable.
