Leucodendrons in my neighbourhood. I gave stems of the red version of the Leucodendrons to my girlfriends in Singapore. An New Zealand farewell gift from a friend.

Free avocado

I went to Mangere stone walls, and found a sign saying the trees are free for the picking. Stewart Rennie a descendant of the pioneering family planted the trees with his son in 1980. I can only conjecture that he gave the trees to the people of Auckland. I tried to search more on him, but there are not much information.

The trees are now managed by the Manukau City Council.

The avocados were not ripe when I went.

Lian He Newspaper has a new article today. We will be touring Kwong Kuok School my great grand Father Chan Kwong Kuok who co-founded the school in 1907 and Gung Min School, my Mother's people had been the board of management.

When Great Grand Father, my Gung Tai started the school for the pioneer children, he had the vision that children should have an education. otherwise they would be forever in the village slaving as a labourer. 

From his foresight, among the Chans, there are 5 lawyers, 3 PhDs, and many highly qualified professions. Many are teachers and principals.
