Ruby red Tuesday: Toilet in the west.

http://workofthepoet.blogspot.com

My friends laughed at me when I took this photo when we took a train out to the west at Swanson. Here in New Zealand, we just say toilet.

When I went to Canada, I thought it was quite strange to say bathroom. In Borneo, most houses have separate bathrooms and toilets. If you went to someone's house and asked to go to the bathroom, your hostess would wonder why you want to go to the bathroom.

In Borneo, Malaysia and Singapore, they also call it WC or water closet.

In another post, I will post a photo of a very elite toilet, where you don't need loo paper and it even massages you. LOL

I know I know!!! These also confuses me because I never heard a toilet word here, they call it a restroom. While in the Philippines, we used the word bathroom for bathing, toilet for another thing. But their is also another word for these comfort room!! But whatever it is called it does serve the purpose hahahaha!

Haha! Manang Kim is right. But for my dogs, the whole garden of Heaven is a pee-mail paradise! Now you know the kind of work I do!

I can see why your friends laughed. Funny.

Never thought about them having different names.

Yes, it is odd. I think restroom is even odder. But I have experienced a nice rest from noise and activity in some. Washroom is a common alternative here in Canada for public toilets.
I love those red doors. Aren't we always looking for those red photo ops?

You are like me, I will take pictures of anything that catches my eye, and I sure would have taken a picture of this. After watching a scary episode of "Oprah" one day, I have been avoiding public toilets and won't use them unless I absolutely have to! And when I have to, I go looking for an expensive motel, no dirty gas stations or fast food places for us! Can't wait to see your luxury one, but ick to the massage!!
