Ruby red Tuesday: Boysenberry plant

http://workofthepoet.blogspot.com
This Boysenberry plant is just grown against the red wall of my school building. The leaves are red as well.

New Zealand is today the world’s largest producer and exporter of boysenberries, a fruit which is enjoyed all around the globe in many ways. Their sweet and piquant taste, together with their incredible rich colouration, makes them enormously versatile.

We use to have boysenberries in our yard. I think we moved them one too many times.

Great big giant berries!

I have heard of Boysenberries almost all my life. But I've never heard of anyone eating them, never seen any recipes including them, and no one I've ever known eats them! I just always thought they were for the birds. I like this picture, because I didn't know what they look like.

Never actually saw a Boysenberry before. Have tasted Boysenberry syrup at IHOP(International House of Pancakes) though!! Why don't you combine Ruby Tuesday with the 8 week COLOR meme?!

About the TopsyTurvy tomato hanging planter...They're sold all over the place here in the USA. Jen sent me a link that shows how to make something like them too. It is: http://www.cheapvegetablegardener.com/2010/05/2-liter-bottle-upside-down-tomato-planter.html

Have a great week dear!

I didn't know boysenberries grew on red plants! Very nice choice for the theme.

I haven't eaten a boysenberry in years. I don't think I ever saw them growing. Thanks for the info.

And, yes, it is summer here. We had some rain after weeks of hot, dry weather. I think our fog was really low clouds as we live on the mountain side. Down by the water, it was clearer.
